What does level 23 purity of ice skill grant? ›

At level 23, Purity of Ice grants +5% to maximum Cold Resistance, and +4% at lower levels.

It is also possible to create a Vaal skill gem by using a Vaal Orb (or Lapidary Lens) on a corresponding normal skill gem (e.g. using a Vaal Orb on Spectral Throw has a chance of turning it into Vaal Spectral Throw). They can also be obtained from sources of gem rewards.

Vaal Impurity of Ice is a Vaal skill gem. It temporarily grants the caster and nearby allies cold damage reduction, immunity to chill and freeze, and causes their cold damage to ignore enemy cold resistance.

At level 23, Purity of Fire grants +5% to maximum Fire Resistance, and +4% at lower levels. For example, if one has a level 20 gem, and wants to boost it to provide +9% maximum fire resistance, one needs to have a total of 125% Increased Aura Effect on it.

Best bet is uber lab farming if you want tk find it yourself. The end of lab chests sometimes drop a bunch of hugh quality gems. The Ancient Gems chest in Delve can drop 21/20 vaal gems.

For Vaal Gems, they come Corrupted. If you were to get an uncorrupted Arc gem, it wouldn't be the Vaal version. And yes, if your Assassin's Mark is corrupted, that means it cannot gain quality or get to level 21. Only corrupting a clean level 20 gem can get it to level 21.

Using a Vaal Orb on a skill gem has a chance to change its level by one. If you level a skill gem up to the cap of 20 and use a Vaal Orb on it, it might become level 21. The usual quality cap for skill gems is 20%, but Vaal Orbs can increase the quality of a skill gem up to 23%.

Each gem has a level cap which once reached will no longer gain experience. For most gems, this cap is Level 20. Corrupting a gem also has a chance to raise a gem's current level by 1, up to 1 above the level cap.

Quality is normally capped at 20%. However, there are certain crafting methods that can increase quality beyond that, including: Corrupting a gem may increase its quality.

Water free of minerals and impurities freezes first compared to impure water. In impure water, the impurity or sediment is trapped in air bubbles and pushed toward the center; this results in a cloudy center in ice cubes.

Vaal Skill Gems can now only be obtained from a set of specific methods such as Corrupting Gems, Vaal Side Areas, Divination Cards (that specifically grant Vaal Skill Gems) and the Lapidary Lens in the Temple of Atzoatl.

Vaal Orb can make items into something completely different; changing socket colors or improving unique items. Once corrupted, an item cannot be modified anymore so think twice before you vaal it!

Souls. To use a Vaal skill, its gem must first be charged by collecting souls. Souls can be obtained by killing enemies, granting 1 souls per kill. Souls can also be obtained when damaging Rare or Unique enemies (1 or 6 souls, respectively, per 2% life lost with a 1 second cooldown).
